movies i have seen lately.

X-Men III

Easilly one of the most enjoyable comic-based movies out there. For whatever reason, for whatever movie, I always seem to have a difficult time staying awake whenever I go to the theatre, but I was fully attentive from start to finish. I slept through half of Batman Forever when I saw that in the theatre. Some of the storyline seemed a bit questionable, but anything based on a comic book deserves some slack in that department. I also did not realize that Kelsey Grammer was the Beast til 2 days later.

Keane

Not to be confused with the keyboard-driven group from the UK, although that is why this movie caught my eye. And then I realized that Damien Lewis from Band of Brothers was the lead role and decided to give the no-name movie a chance. A schizophrenic guy loses his imaginary daughter and ends up befriending a real little girl with a real crazy mom. Well, like most no-name, independent films, it was extremely confusing. I watched it about a month ago and really don't remember the point.

Stay

Another weird film that I could've gone without seeing. Noah from The Notebook has a plan to commit suicide and tells his psychiatrist about it. And the whole movie consists of the psychiatrist, Ewan Mcgregor, and his wife, Naomi Watts, trying to figure out Noah from The Notebook's plan and try to stop him before ITS TOO LATE. I rented it about 3 weeks ago and have yet to return it due to my own negligence.

ugggggggh.

i forgot how much i hate losing in softball.

and i STRUCK OUT.
i have NEVER struck out.

nothing makes you feel less like a man than striking out in slow-pitch softball.

sure i hit alot of crappy groundballs, but striking out has never been part of my repertoire.

glad i could add another dimension to my game.

blame it on the rain.

it's an interesting feeling when you see someone kayaking down your street.

i came home from church this morning to find my house surrounded by the Salmon Falls River.

the good news: we live on top of a hill.
the bad news: we dont have hovercrafts.

so until this torrential rain decides to subside-- we cannot go home and i will be living at my brothers house.

[i realize i posted this on my myspace too. life is hard when you are torn between two blogs.]

summer of '06

What to Look Forward to:

1. My Birthday.

July 9th.
mark it down.

2. Softball.

There is something very poignant about the competitive clash that occurs when two local churches join together on a softball field. 3 years in the league and we have made it to the semifinals twice and won the championships once. This year we have been moved up to the A-Division, so it will be interesting to see how well we can do against the juggernauts of the community. I am glad that 4 years ago I had the ambition to get a team started because it has definitely given me something to look forward to every summer.

3. SoulFest.

Even though I got poison ivy on my FACE (!!!) last year, SoulFest is always a good time. Even though, the music might, as a whole, suck.

I just looked at the artist lineup to post the bands that I will look forward to seeing, but to be honest... there aren't any. However, its a tradition and I will enjoy myself regardless.

4. Great East Lake.
Another tradition-- Every year since I can remember, my family has a rented a place on a lake for a week. It used to be excruciatingly boring, but now I can drive. And since it is only 45 minutes away, I can come and go as I please. It usually falls on the week of my birthday.

5. The beach.
6. Red Sox games.
7. Not being pale.

What Not to Look Forward to:

1. Humidity. No A/C in my car.
2. Working at Dicks.
3. Getting myself out of debt.
4. The inevitable really bad sunburn i always get.
5. Bees, hornets, wasps, mosquitoes.
6. Figuring out what to do for the rest of my life.
