hey noodle arms.
well we had our first softball practice yesterday and my shoulder isnt killing me, so thats a good sign.
but everything else hurts.
whenever i feel like this i worry about being one of those 40 year-old guys who cant do anything without pulling or tearing something. plus, i only hit the ball out of the infield a few times.
so i think i need to get a membership to a gym.
or find sources on the inside.

even if you find someone on the inside you still need to go to the gym to get any benefit from them.
nah, you don't need a gym. just take your softball and leave it out in the rain for a couple of days. Then start playing catch with it. After a short while, your arm strength will be significantly improved.
For batting, go get the cheapest heaviest bat you can find, grab a softball hit-a-way. Tie it to a tree in your back yard and go at it for 30 minutes a day. You would be amazed at the difference.
does a softball really absorb water? and i have no problems with my throwing ability. i think i can throw pretty hard. within the last couple of years, i clocked in at the same speed as nate at one of those cages.
its just my hitting.
i have never been very good at it.
id like to get my average over .600 this year.
oh, plus i was wearing flipflops too. so MAYBE i can throw it faster, ha.
If it has a leather cover it will.
Power has nothing to do with average - just learn to place it. Maybe you should work on perfecting the "swinging bunt"
Bunting is generally illegal in slow pitch softball, but if you just make it look like you are a weakling, then there's nothing they can do about it.
we had a guy on our team, christian page, who was awesome at the swinging bunt. except he didnt do it on purpose. he just wasnt very good at swinging.
he is muscular too, so i dont know what his problem was.
If you can perfect it, the swinging bunt is great - and usually gets you on base. In church softball leagues, the catcher is almost always the weakest player.
i have perfected hitting crappy groundballs right to the shortstop.
they make weighted softballs. i was thinking of getting one.
you need some power to get it out of the infield.
i have rare, occasional bursts of power.
like that grandslam i hit in the 2004 season.
but everything has to be perfect. the pitch. my swing. the bat. the ball. the weather. the alignment of the moon.
